unrealistic destinations bucket list
I’ve selected four places that I’d really like to visit to make up my unrealistic destinations bucket list. One day we’ll hopefully be allowed to visit at least one of them but who knows…for now it is definitely not feasible.
North Korea
Why not?! No-one said a bucket list had to be 100% achievable. I would absolutely love to visit North Korea. The isolation, the different way of life – I think it would be amazing to see!
Yemen
Realistically this will probably never happen but Socotra island is so appealing to me it is on my Google Maps ‘want to go’ list twice. Smaller than Madagascar but with so many endemic species, it seems like a bit of a ‘one off’ in the world.
Iran
I’d love to visit Iran, it is so vast with such inhospitable terrain. It’s one of the most mountainous countries in the world and once you get over these and into the centre of the country it is mainly desert. Kish island in the Persian Gulf seems to blend traditional with modern, there are 5 star resorts as well as ruins of ancient cities.
Russia
Not very realistic at the moment but things can change. St Petersburg, Moscow and Vladivostok look worth a visit, or the Trans-Siberian railway to see lots of the country in a few days. I’d really like to visit Lake Baikal too, it’s the deepest lake in the world and is approximately the same size as Belgium.
